Streamroll, a web development firm dedicated to helping HUD housing developments meet federal requirements by providing “plug-and-play” frameworks for HUD Apartment Managers to post available units, ran multiple websites for HUD developments, lacked the visibility and security parameters necessary to meet industry standards. At risk of breach and facing trouble with its security posture, Streamroll turned to the cloud experts at ADAPTURE to remediate.

Solution Requirements

To maintain federal standards, Streamroll needed a better solution than its current hosting platform, GoDaddy, could provide. Without additional security or other monitoring tools deployed, the web development company lacked the visibility and control into the sites it was developing and hosting for the HUD community.

To move forward, Streamroll needed a partner that could build a better foundation for cybersecurity and transparency into its environments.

ADAPTURE Delivered

To enable greater visibility and control, the ADAPTURE experts migrated Streamroll’s environments from a legacy, on-premise hosting provider to AWS.

ADAPTURE built and optimized the new AWS environments while adhering to best practices in each of the Five Pillars of the AWS Well-Architected Framework—Cost Optimization, Reliability, Operational Excellence, Performance Efficiency, and Security—to build a strong foundation for the web development company. This enabled enhanced visibility and control over its environments and helped Streamroll meet federal requirements for hosting HUD sites.

The ADAPTURE team also developed a monthly reporting service for the customer, comprised of metrics, dashboards and improvement opportunities.  These dashboards are generated through the execution of serverless code developed in Python, AWS Boto3, and the AWS Cost Explorer API.  Native tools AWS Lambda and AWS Systems Manager run the serverless code automatically each month and relevant data is sent to the team using AWS SES. 

Additionally, Streamroll now has the ability to protect and monitor each individual instance and can identify any threats or inefficiencies where and when they occur. From complete lack of control to exemplar of industry best practices, ADAPTURE delivered a full overhaul of Streamroll’s hosting series with its Cloud Governance service.
